Microelettrica Dresden: Continuing the Heine Resistors Tradition

Microelettrica Dresden builds on more than a century of expertise in resistor technology. Formerly known as Heine Resistors, the Dresden site continues a tradition that began in 1904, combining long-standing experience with Microelettrica’s global capabilities. Our German-made products range from band resistors to load banks, including compact resistors, brake resistors, frame resistors, steel grid resistors and neutral grounding resistors.

Our Heritage

Our journey began in 1904 with the founding of a company by master mechanic Oscar Heine, initially to produce arc smoothing resistors. The company quickly expanded beyond its role as a supplier to the Dresden-based cinema equipment industry, becoming a leading German manufacturer of specialized resistors.

Post-War Era and Beyond

In the post-war period, the company continued to evolve, marking significant milestones in its history. In 1972, Oscar HEINE KG was nationalized, becoming an important manufacturer of special resistors in Eastern Europe. In 1990, the company was reprivatized and registered as HEINE Spezialwiderstände GmbH.

Global Expansion

In 2003, the company was renamed HEINE Resistors GmbH. To better serve international markets, HEINE (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. was established in China, strengthening the company’s presence in Asia.

A New Chapter

January 2012 marked a new chapter when Microelettrica Scientifica S.p.A., part of the Knorr-Bremse Group, acquired 100% of HEINE Resistors GmbH, expanding Microelettrica’s resistor portfolio and bringing together complementary expertise and capabilities.

Based in Dresden, Germany, Microelettrica Dresden specializes in the development and manufacturing of power resistors for demanding rail, industrial and energy applications. Combining long-standing expertise with Microelettrica’s global capabilities, the Dresden site supports customers worldwide with reliable, application-specific resistor solutions.

Embracing the Future

In 2020, the Dresden company adopted the Microelettrica brand identity, reinforcing its integration within Microelettrica’s global network while preserving the expertise and heritage built over more than a century.
